Alistair Kinsey, Chairman of Tavistock Athletic Club, presents the Lions Club of Tavistock, represented by Alan Wroath, with a cheque for £1000. The money was raised during the annual Tavistock Town Relays in July as part of Carnival week, and is donated in recognition of the Lions’ support to the TAC’s events throughout the year. Accompanying Alan Wroath are fellow Lions Chris Northey, Brenda Moyse and John Dawson. The money is used to buy small equipment, arts supplies, books etc for eight local primary schools at Christmas, as part of the Lions’ overall Santa activities. The popular Tavistock Town Relays is one of three major running races that TAC organises each year (the other two being the Tavy 7 and the Tavy 13). 145 teams of four competed on the day, with fun runners expanding the total taking part to around 700. Shown supporting the presentation at the College track are just some of the many athletes from the Junior and Senior sections of TAC.
